Grain, sugar beet and potatoes harvest exceeded last year results in Bashkortostan

UFA, 8 November 2016. /Bashinform News Agency, Galina Bakhshieva/. The harvest of grain, sugar beet and potato exceeded the last-year performance in Bashkortostan.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture RB, this year more than 3.3 million tons of grain in the registered weight, about 1.3 million tons of sugar beet, more than 1.1 million tons of potatoes were harvested in the region.

The sunflower harvest amounted to 230 thousand tons, vegetables - 333 thousand tons.

In general, harvesting works were conducted in an orderly way in 2016, at the reasonable amount of time and under favourable weather conditions, the agricultural department reports.

Despite the fact that the weather conditions - atmospheric and soil drought and dry winds in July and August affected the situation, the reserves to increase productivity through intense fertilization and improving the quality of seeds were used.

16.6 kg of fertilizers per 1 hectare were applied in the current year. This is by 40 percent more than in 2015.

In turn, the share of elite seeds was also increased from 13.4 to 15.3 percent.
