Milk interventions in Russia, including Bashkortostan, may begin in May 2017

UFA, 23 September 2016. /Bashinform News Agency, Galina Bakhshieva/. Purchasing interventions in the milk market of Russia may start in May 2017.

As it was marked at "AgroYug" forum in Stavropol, a mechanism to support prices in the dairy industry should be established.

"The following year, the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia is quite resolute and plans to launch a mechanism of interventions in May in the regions where there is high seasonality of milk production", "Interfax" reports citing the executive director of the National Union of Milk Producers (Soyuzmoloko) Artem Belov.

First of all it relates to Altai and Bashkortostan.

The Ministry of Agriculture of Russia did not comment on this information. It was noted only that the interventions would take place during a "big milk" period – that is the grazing season.

Purchases of milk powder and butter were scheduled to begin already in July this year. However, dairy interventions had to be postponed due to the need for legislation amendments.
