Ufa Airport spent more than 9 million rubles on automatic bird scaring system

UFA, 13 July 2016. /Bashinform News Agency, Galiya Nabieva/. The Ufa International Airport spent more than 9 million rubles on purchase and installation of equipment for automatic bird scaring system in the airfield. The special equipment will also deter birds from making permanent colonies and nesting sites, the press service of the air hub informs.

Commissioning and configuring a new bioacoustic system for ornithological safety is carried out while preparation for a second runway launching at the Ufa Airport. The software of the system enables to adjust the intensity of sound effects depending on the number of birds, their species composition, time of the year and time of the day.

This year for the first time in the history of the Ufa International Airport a phytosanitary inspection of the airfield was conducted. The airport area is patrolled by an ornithologist and aerodrome service specialists around the clock on vehicles equipped with bio-acoustic units. In addition, a specialized mechanical equipment and pyrotechnics are used efficiently at the airport.

The bioacoustic system installed at the Ufa Airport successfully operates in the six Russian airports, including the "Vnukovo" and "Pulkovo". In addition, an option of the video cameras installation for additional supervision of the runway is available. Commissioning of the second artificial runway is scheduled for August 2016.
