Rustem Khamitov has held a meeting on power supply reliability in Bashkortostan

UFA, 4 July 2016. /Bashinform News Agency, Alexander Smirnov/. On July 4, the Head of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov held a meeting on power supply reliability in the region. It was attended by members of the Government RB, representatives of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in the Republic of Bashkortostan, heads of energy companies.
The meeting discussed the causes and consequences of the breakage in the power system of the republic, which occurred on July 2.
“Last Saturday, a major accident occurred in the power system of the Bashkortostan Republic. You know that it took nearly four hours to restore electricity supply to our towns and villages. Such big cities of the republic as Ufa, Sterlitamak, Salavat, Meleuz, Kumertau suffered. This breakage affected almost 700 thousand inhabitants of the republic, and more than one million people together with the residents of the Chelyabinsk region”, Rustem Khamitov said.
The Head of the Republic instructed the Government of the region to establish a working group to investigate into the causes of the accident, evaluate the work of municipal, industrial and social facilities, housing facilities under conditions of the electricity shutdown, to submit proposals on improving the situation and preventing similar accidents in the future.
The Head of the Region also noted the need to analyze reliability and stability of the republican power system, to assess the need for its modernization.
The Federal Service for Ecological, Technological and Nuclear Supervision (Rostekhnadzor) established an interdepartmental commission to investigate into the reasons of the accident. The Russian Ministry of Energy reported that the massive power outage was caused by inattentive pipelayer driver who hit a high-voltage wire with a boom of the vehicle.
