Bashkiria can produce half of telecommunication equipment used in Russia - Dmitry Sharonov

UFA, 16 May 2016. /Bashinform News Agency, Galina Bakhshieva/. Bashkortostan is able to produce up to 50 percent of all telecommunication equipment used in Russia. This was stated at the All-Russian forum of regional and municipal information technology "PROF-IT-2016" by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Government RB Dmitry Sharonov.
"In the next five years, we could cover about 75-80 percent of the so-called critical equipment. We are primarily talking about routers, high-speed switches, data storage servers", added Dmitry Sharonov.
Currently, the regional cluster of telecommunication equipment manufacturers includes 15 companies.
"We have invested public money in the purchase of expensive test equipment, so that in Bashkortostan for the past two years several types of fully import substitutive equipment have been created. This is the equipment for special purposes, for working at secure facilities. Previously, there was not such equipment in Russia,” underlined the Deputy Prime Minister of the Government RB.
Among the recent developments there is the first industrial switch, and a series of new switches recently tested in the Sberbank network.
As previously reported, the Assistant to the President of Russia Igor Shchegolev said that Russian companies spent 300 billion rubles for the purchase of IT-equipment annually, 90 percent of which was directed to foreign suppliers.
