Ufa may appear on new banknotes of 2000 rubles

UFA, 28 April 2016. /Bashinform News Agency, Galina Bakhshieva/. The Bashkir capital may appear on the new banknotes of 2000 rubles if gains the maximum number of votes.

Hundreds of petitions from across the country are already posted on the website «Change.org», offering to place pictures of Vladivostok, Volgograd, Perm, Kazan, Sakhalin, Kaluga, Sevastopol, Novocherkassk, Kostroma, Novgorod, Yakutsk and other cities on the banknotes. Vladivostok is among the leaders having collected now about 10 thousand votes on the website.

As Bashinform News Agency reported, on April 12, the Central Bank of Russia announced replenishing the existing series with banknotes of 200 and 2000 rubles denominations. The final design of the new banknotes, which will be released in 2017, is not defined yet. The Bank of Russia will select it using a public discussion.

The vote on the selection of images on the new banknotes will be available soon on one of the federal TV channels.

Meanwhile, the "Aggressive Design Studio" from Krasnoyarsk offered depicting Ufa on the banknotes of 2000 rubles, and posted a photo of the new banknote on its website. The obverse depicts the Monument to Salavat Yulaev and the "Lyalya Tulpan" mosque, the Friendship Monument is on the back. The designers chose bluish-green colour for the new banknote.

So far the Central Bank of Russia has not announced the beginning of tender for the new banknote design, but as soon as the official information appear on this matter, the "Aggressive Design Studio" will definitely send its proposals, according to "i-gazeta".
