Lithium-ion batteries transportation in luggage of planes will be banned

UFA, 24 February 2016. /Bashinform News Agency, Galina Bakhshieva/. Since 1 April this year, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) introduces a ban on the carriage of lithium-ion batteries as baggage on passenger aircrafts. The decision was caused by the fact that the lithium-ion batteries are fire hazard.
The ban on the transportation of batteries will continue till creation of new security standard for the transport of batteries, according to RBC.
Meanwhile, the press-service of the Ufa International Airport stressed that no restrictive measures on transportation of lithium-ion batteries as baggage on passenger aircrafts would be taken until the relevant order of the Ministry of Transport of Russia.
