In Ufa, the Prime Minister of the Government of Bashkortostan Rustem Mardanov met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to the Russian Federation Ms Astra Kurme. The delegation of the Embassy of Latvia is on an official visit in the region, during which it is planned to discuss prospects of cooperation in various spheres.
Rustem Mardanov named Latvia one of the major partners to develop cooperation at various levels. The parties have already cooperated in the field of oil refining, metallurgy, chemical and petrochemical industries. These contacts will be continued in the future. The Prime Minister invited Latvian businessmen to participate in investment projects, which the regional authority would support with different benefits and preferences for investors.
In turn, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Latvia to the Russian Federation Ms Astra Kurme thanked the leadership of our republic for the support given to local ethnic communities in the preservation of cultural identity, language and traditions.
"Bashkortostan is a region with which Latvia has the largest trading turnover. Now the relevant areas are logistics and transport, but we would like to cooperate in other areas, such as education, finance, tourism, which are very promising, but still not well developed. In Bashkortostan a large delegation of Latvian businessmen arrived. Among them they are those who are already working in the region and those who are interested in new partners. I hope that these two days will be fruitful. Our business will find partners and friends here, in Bashkortostan", said Ms Kurme.
Discussion of expanding bilateral ties continued at the round table in the Chamber of Commerce RB.
The Latvian delegation will also visit the Institute of Petrochemical Processing, JSC Corporation for Development of the Republic of Bashkortostan", LLC "Vittsenmann - Russo", Electric Transport Directorate of Ufa, Bashkir State University. The cultural program includes a visit to the Museum of Archaeology and Ethnography, Ufa Science Centre RAS.
