Since 2016, some traffic police fines can be paid at a 50% discount

UFA, 24 November 2015. /Bashinform News Agency, Olga Murtazina/. Since January 1, 2016 a law on discounts for traffic police fines shall come into force. A 50-percent discount is valid only on the sanctions provided for by Chapter 12 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation in case of payment within the first 20 days of a fine imposition. However, this privilege does not cover a number of serious violations and a number of repeated ones.

Thus, the discount is not provided for drunk driving, personal injury, refusal of medical examination, the use of alcohol or drugs after the accident or after stopping by the traffic police.

The driver will not get a discount for drunk driving, and transfer of his car to the drunk driver. The same applies to a number of repeated violations: repetitive driving of unregistered vehicles, speeding, location of violation of cars on the road, driving into the oncoming traffic lane on a one-way road and others are punishable by fines in full.
