Farmers start to breed ostriches in Bashkiria

UFA, 6 October 2015. /Bashinform News Agency, Alim Faizov/. It is becoming popular to establish farms breeding ostriches in Bashkortostan. For example, in the Tuimazy region a young family from Kandry-Tyumekeevo village acquired four African ostriches. In the first year of breeding they plan to get 60 eggs. The demand for ostrich meat is high enough, so the business is going to be profitable. The ostriches of this breed gain total weight of about 150 kg to four years of age, and they live up to 70 years.

Young entrepreneurs plan to create a diversified farm, including an ostrich breeding reproducer. In addition, it is planned to develop agricultural tourism organizing trips to the farm. Today, entrepreneurs are preparing documents for participation in the state program "Beginner Farmer", the municipal administration informs.
