One third of Russians stopped making savings

UFA, 19 June 2015. /Bashinform News Agency, Alim Faizov/. During the current crisis 30% of Russians stopped making savings - investing in the deposits of banks and even keeping the money at home. In 2015, the citizens prefer just to spend their available funds to buy goods and services. In the last crisis, which peaked in 2009, the number of Russians who stopped to save was 17% - that is by 1.8 times less. This is stated in the study of the National Agency for Financial Studies (NAFS), prepared by the "Izvestia" and published in today's issue of the publication. The situation in 132 settlements of 46 regions of Russia was investigated.
Citizens now name the rise in prices as the main reason for refusal from financial savings, indicating that they have wages and other income only for current consumption. This was stated by 54% of respondents, in 2009 their number was 40%.
The NAFS survey says that the current crisis reduced the number of Russians who made savings instead of reckless spending in the wake of financial panic. For example, in the last crisis 6% of Russians spent money and did not wait till they became worthless due to inflation. In 2015, there are no such people. The number of citizens who do not see reliable ways to store money and therefore refuse from saving decreased. In the last crisis, there were 4% of them, in 2015 - 3%. The number of Russians encumbered by credit obligations decreased almost by half - from 26% to 14% since the last crisis.
Of the 70% of Russians, which are hoarding funds, 44% are not confident in the future and "save for a rainy day", it follows from the survey. During the last crisis there were 41% of such citizens.
According to the survey Russians do not have spare money now – with 3% of such citizens in 2009.
