Meeting in the format "Volga Yangtze" will be held as part of SCO Summit in Ufa

UFA, 24 December 2014. /Bashinform News Agency, Arthur Basyrov/. A meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization with senior officials of the Volga Federal District in the format of "Volga-Yangtze" during the SCO Summit in Ufa in July 2015. This was stated by the participants of the next meeting of the Joint Working Group on Trade, Economic and Humanitarian Cooperation of the Volga regions and the Chinese provinces of the upper, the middle reaches of the Yangtze River.

The meeting was held in Ulyanovsk chaired by the Deputy Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Volga Federal District Alexey Sukhov and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China Cheng Guoping. According to the press service of the Government of Bashkortostan, the meeting was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Government RB Eugene Mavrin.

Cooperation between Volga regions and Chinese provinces began in 2013.

“We have already signed 11 agreements, eight are being finalized. Work on improving two fundamental documents continues - the list of investment projects and the roadmap for cooperation in the humanitarian sphere. To date, the list of investment projects contains 64 items and 108 new proposals from the regions of the Volga Federal District. 99 events are realized in the humanitarian sphere”, the Deputy Plenipotentiary of the President of the Russian Federation in the Volga Federal District Alexey Sukhov marked.

During the meeting, the parties signed a protocol on cooperation in trade, economic and humanitarian fields.

30 agreements and contracts were signed during the cooperation in the format of "Volga-Yangtze" between Bashkortostan and regions of the Yangtze, including two intergovernmental agreements with Jiangsu Province and Chongqing.

The government working group is established on cooperation with the Yangtze regions.

Five projects and 31 proposals from the republic are included in the list of investment projects. The road map of humanitarian cooperation covers seven events and two proposals.
