"Smart Grid" will restore power failure in Ufa in two minutes

UFA, 17 December 2014. /Bashinform News Agency, Elvira Latypova/. The introduction of "Smart Grid" in Ufa will reduce the time to restore power in emergency situations in the power system from the current 2 hours and 35 minutes to 2 minutes. This was reported by the general director of JSC "Bashkir Power Grid Company" (BESK) Andrey Makarov at the launch of the pilot project on Tuesday.

The head of BESK Company expects that the power grid of the pilot area - four quarters through the Bakalinski, Gubaidulin and Stepan Zlobin Streets - will move to the new equipment in March 2015. In May, the project will work in full.

The current economic situation has led to a rise in the cost of the project.

“We estimated cost of the project as 3.5 billion rubles - as of May this year. Now the sum has grown to 4 billion rubles,” Andrey Makarov said.

At the presentation of the pilot project the head of BESK reported the intention to distribute the received experience to the entire Ufa by 2019.

The Smart Grid project of BESK is implemented in cooperation with "Siemens" LLC. Its goal is to provide reliable electricity supply from the source to consumers at the right time and in the required quantity. The Smart Grid reduces electricity losses, cost of maintenance and repair of power equipment.
