Regions need a unified strategy on import substitution - Rustem Khamitov

UFA, 17 December 2014. /Bashinform News Agency, Elvira Latypova/. Activities of the Russian Federation on import substitution must be consistent and based on a unified strategy, Rustem Khamitov said in his interview to RBC.
In this case, import substitution is not an end in itself.
“Import substitution - this word does not fully reflect what we have to address today. Imports can be replaced by substandard products too. But we should talk about new opportunities for production of high-quality products,” the President of the republic is sure.
In general, Rustem Khamitov considers that "we have a diversified economy," and "we feel pretty confident in all areas", including in agriculture, which in the current situation is "an obvious possible driver of economic development". Investment climate is favourable in Bashkortostan, as evidenced by the ratings. The situation with Bashneft does not make an obvious negative impact on it, because "it is a federal story, put it that way" and it "bears not much relation to what we do".
“With regard to the current work of investors, then, of course, we create the most modern, comfortable working conditions and continue this tactic and strategy,” the President of Bashkortostan said. “Today, in terms of investment growth we have a figure of about 105-106 percent compared to the previous year. You must admit that it's not bad. These are quite decent figures for the large, industrialized republic for 10 months. We will finish this year with "plus" in terms of investment, and in terms of industrial production index. And we will have about 107-108 percent-plus to the previous year in taxes. In fact, we have quite good economic indicators. But, of course, we understand that there are certain risks in the next year.”
The interview of Rustem Khamitov to RBC channel is posted on the website of the President of the republic.
