"Product of Bashkortostan" chain stores will compete with retailers

UFA, 10 December 2014. /Bashinform News Agency, Iliya Spiridonov/. A chain of stores created in the republic under the brand name "Product of Bashkortostan" will be a worthy competitor to largest retailers operating in the region. The President of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov said this during the meeting with the chairmen of municipal districts, urban districts and towns of Bashkortostan held on December 9.

The head of the republic noted that currently only 55 percent of local products are available on the shelves of Ufa shops, the rest is imported from other regions or from abroad. On average over the republic the proportion of Bashkortostan products reaches 67 percent, and 34 percent at wholesale companies.

Bashkortostan President urged municipalities to develop actively local processing, giving an example of the situation with milk production.

“We are the first or second in milk production in the Russian Federation, we go "head to head" with Tatarstan. But the situation with milk processing is not so good. We take only the 12-14th place on dairy products production. We continue to purchase dairy products. We sell milk to Orenburg, Chelyabinsk, Tatarstan, Perm. Yes, we have quite a good price - 18-19 rubles per litre, but finished products are much more expensive. This is should be necessarily developed, and it depends on you also”, the head of the republic underlined.
