Rustem Khamitov: "Sanctions will benefit the agriculture of our republic"

UFA, 14 November 2014. /Bashinform News Agency, Elvira Latypova/. Food embargo could be an incentive for development of our own production, the President of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov expressed his opinion in the interview to "Selskaya Zhisn" newspaper.
Modernization of the livestock industry helps to ensure our food supply security, in particular, the republican project "500 farms" which has been implemented since 2012.
“Less than for three years it has been built and reconstructed about 200 livestock buildings. 1.2 billion rubles were allocated for this purpose from the state budget, but we managed to attract 4 rubles of farmers’ investment per every ruble of state funds. Due to the introduction of new technologies milk yield increased by more than 20 percent at farms”, Rustem Khamitov marked.
Local foods are in great demand among the population, people actively buy locally grown products and not imported from abroad.
“At trade and procurement conferences held by the Republican State Committee on Commerce, retailers, restaurateurs actively enter into supply contracts with local producers, farmers, and they, in turn, are getting closer to the customer,” the President of Bashkortostan said.
The trademark "Product of Bashkortostan" became a sort of republican GOST (state standard). According to Rustem Khamitov, today about 140 enterprises are already involved in this project producing more than one thousand items.
“As part of the project the first company store has been already launched in Ufa - there is demand there; buyers are satisfied with quality and prices. Such work will be continued by creating sales chain throughout the republic”, the head of the region said.
Full text of the interview is posted on the official website of the President of Bashkortostan.
