Bashkiria provided itself with sufficient amount of the main agricultural foods - Ministry of Agriculture

UFA, 12 November 2014. /Bashinform News Agency, Juliya Antipina/. Bashkortostan can fully meet its own needs in the main types of agricultural products. This was reported by the Minister of Agriculture RB, Nikolay Kovalenko at a press conference at the department on Wednesday.

According to him, the annual demand of the republican population in grain products is 425 thousand tons, in potatoes - 405 thousand tons, in sugar - 114 thousand tons, in vegetable oil - 50 thousand tons, in buckwheat - 15 thousand tons. In Bashkortostan, more than 2.7 million tons (by nearly 500 thousand tons more than in 2013)of grains and legumes are harvested. It was collected potatoes and vegetables for more than 1 million tons, sugar beets - about 1.3 million tons, and sunflower seeds - 200 thousand tons. Good crop of buckwheat is harvested - 86,000 tons compared to 50,000 in 2013.

“The rate of buckwheat consumption per person is 3.5 kg per year. It is easy to calculate that our crops cover our needs”, Nikolay Kovalenko said. “There are also reserves of the last year. A month ago, buckwheat was bought at 7 rubles per kilogram in wholesale and sold at 16 rubles. Rush is created artificially heated by some structures, but our republic does not experience shortages. Also provision with meat is also high. Beef is a product expensive to manufacture. In Bashkiria 29 kilograms of beef per capita are produced, which is by four kilos above norm. For this indicator, the region is among the leaders in the Russian industry.
