Rustem Khamitov and CEO of Russian Helicopters Alexander Mikheyev discussed helicopter industry development in Bashkortostan

UFA, 22 October 2014. /Bashinform News Agency, Iliya Spiridonov/. The President of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov and CEO of Russian Helicopters holding company Alexander Mikheyev during a working meeting discussed the state and prospects of helicopter industry development in the republic, the press service of the head of the region informs. In particular, they talked about production of modern helicopters of "Ka" series at the Kumertau Aviation Production Plant (KumAPP) being part of the holding, the amount of output indicators for 2014-2020 and execution of current contractual obligations, as well as the prospects of the company.
Rustem Khamitov noted a city-forming role of KumAPP which had been manufacturing helicopters for more than 50 years and providing jobs for more than 3,700 residents. Bashkortostan President expressed his readiness to provide full support to the company amid unfavourable situation in the international and domestic markets observed recently.
According to the CEO of Russian Helicopters holding Alexander Mikheyev, today the company is modernizing production facilities, which will benefit to the production efficiency and increase of workload of KumAPP facilities in the long term. It was also considered an issue of increasing the load of the enterprise and diversification of its production.
Currently, in addition to the mass production of helicopters the company implements investment projects aimed at production of aggregates for "Ka" helicopters. Production development of frame units and rotor blades of helicopters Ka-62 and Ka-52 and Ka-52K was begun.
Founded in 2007, JSC Russian Helicopters is one of the leaders of the world helicopter industry, the single developer and manufacturer of helicopters in Russia. It is a subsidiary of United Industrial Corporation Oboronprom being part of Rostec State Corporation. The holding unites five helicopter plants, two design bureaus, as well as enterprises engaged in manufacture and maintenance of assembly parts and a service company providing after-sales support in Russia and abroad. In 2013, the revenue of the holding grew by 10 percent to 138.3 billion rubles, shipments totaled 275 helicopters.
