Bashkiria takes the third position in mortgage lending in Volga Federal District

In terms of mortgage lending Bashkortostan ranks third among the regions of the Volga Federal District, following Tatarstan and Samara Region. For seven months of 2014, banks issued 15 128 residential mortgage loans to residents of the republic totaling 21.3 billion rubles, the regional branch of the Central Bank reports. This is by 24.4 percent higher than for the same period of the last year.

The weighted average term of mortgage lending in Bashkiria is about 15 years for ruble loans and 14 years - for loans in foreign currency. The weighted average interest rate is 12.3 and 10.7 percent per annum, respectively.

Mortgage debts grew by 39.1 percent to 67.9 billion rubles in the republic compared with the same period of the last year. The share of overdue loans in this amount decreased from 0.8 to 0.7 percent since the beginning of the year.

As representatives of the regional office of the Central Bank note, Bashkortostan has the largest sum of mortgage debts and the greatest number of overdue loans in the Volga Federal District.
