New road junction is launched at 1428 km of M-5 federal highway near Ufa
Two-level Chishmy interchange near Ufa on the 1428 km of M-5 federal highway was commissioned on August 29. The road infrastructure item was inspected by the Russian Presidential Envoy to the Volga Federal District Mikhail Babich, the Transport Minister RF Maxim Sokolov and the head of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov.
The six-lane road built for a year and a half - three lanes in each direction - is classified as 1B highway. There are no left turns and crossing traffic flows at the same level at the interchange.
According to Maxim Sokolov, in general, the state of federal roads at the moment leaves much to be desired, but in the next few years, the situation has to change:
“Today, only 50 percent of federal roads are in the state complied with standards”, the Minister said. “But thanks to this tool as road funds, we are confident about the future and understand that the majority of our roads will be brought up to standards by 2018.”
The head of the republic Rustem Khamitov thanked all those who worked on the design and construction of interchanges. In his view, "the work on M-5 and M-7 highways modernization is going on quite well" and after a few years the federal roads in the territory of Bashkortostan will comply with all safety requirements.
According to "Directorate of Samara - Ufa - Chelyabinsk Highway of the Federal Road Agency", 1.2 billion rubles were allocated for the new object from the federal budget. As explained to journalists the head of capital projects department of the Directorate Alexander Mikhailov, these funds had been spent not only on design and construction, but also on demolition of facilities earlier located there - cafe "Chishma" and gas station of "Bashkirnefteproduct", on utilities relocation, protective measures, arrangement of bypasses.
