Russia blocked the food import from the EU, the USA, Australia, Norway and Canada

Russia introduces a full ban on supply of beef, pork, fruit and vegetable products (i.e. fruit and vegetables), meat, poultry, fish, cheese, milk and dairy products from the EU, the United States, Australia, Canada and Norway. The Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed the corresponding resolution.

Yesterday the President of the Russian Federation signed a decree "On application of certain economic measures to ensure the security of the Russian Federation". It is to impose an embargo on import of the whole categories of products from those countries that have imposed economic sanctions on Russian organizations and citizens.

“Restrictions will take effect since August 8, 2014 for a period of one year,” the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation said.

At the same time, it is noted that the Russian government is ready to reconsider the terms of these measures.

Dmitry Medvedev instructed the Federal Customs Service to block the delivery of the relevant goods. The Ministry of Industry and the Ministry of Agriculture should start daily monitoring of commodity markets and prices and report to the Government.
