FAS RF verifies reasonability of gasoline prices increase
The Federal Antimonopoly Service and the Russian Ministry of Energy examined a sharp increase in the stock prices of gasoline, which continues for the second week. As reported by «Izvestiya», last week the price of A-92 and A-95 gasoline at the St. Petersburg International Exchange of fuel increased by 1.8 and 1.4 percent, respectively. Retail prices will also grow following the wholesale prices. Analysts interviewed by the publication, named a delay period ranging from two weeks to two months, and predicted a rise in prices at refuelling stations at 0.5 - 1.5 rubles per litre.
According to the head of department on fuel & energy complex control FAS Dmitry Makhonin, the antimonopoly service sent the corresponding requests to oil companies. Experts do not find objective reasons for a sharp rise in stock prices as there is no shortage in the domestic market.
Yesterday at Bashneft’s stations retail gasoline prices rose by 40-60 copecks per litre. The company justified the increase by market conditions.
