United Engine Corporation organizes final assembly line of engines at UMPO

The "Engines for Combat Aircraft" Division of United Engine Corporation optimizes production facilities located in different regions of Russia. Within the framework of optimization at two sites - UMPO and Moscow Research and Production Centre Gas Turbine "Salute" - the final assembly line of engines will be held, the UMPO press service informs.

An extra final assembly line is scheduled to run at "Salute" branch facilities – Omsk Engine Production Association named after P.I. Baranov.

The purpose of the project is to ensure development of technological competence centres and to eliminate funding of similar technical programs of different enterprises.

United Engine Corporation will actively develop Ufa technological competence centre in aluminum and magnesium casting. According to the press service of the association, serial production will start in 2017.

The reorganization plan of UEC division "Engines for Combat Aircraft" was developed by Ufa experts on the results of the 2013 survey. The object of the survey was the serial-type engine AL-31. The areas related to production of each of its modules were examined during the survey.

JSC "Ufa Engine Industrial Association" is the Russian largest manufacturer of aircraft engines. It is engaged in development, manufacture, service and repair of turbojet engines and pumping units, production and repairs of helicopter parts. It is included in the United Engine Corporation — a wholly owned subsidiary of UIC "Oboronprom" on engine assets management.
