Bashkiria is in the top five of the leading regions of Russia on food safety

Bashkortostan is among five Russian regions - leaders in terms of food safety, along with Moscow, the Moscow and Tyumen Regions and Khabarovsk Territory. This was reported by the press service of the city administration citing the data from the Centre for Agricultural Research of the Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration under the President of the Russian Federation.

According to experts, Russia's food safety is high in general, but it varies considerably in different regions.

When analyzing the situation, experts relied on the criteria adopted in international practice, but almost never used in our country. Thus, not only food self-sufficiency of the regions was taken into account, but also its accessibility - physical and economic one - for different segments of the population. Assessing the availability of food in different regions, experts correlated average expenditures on food of local residents with the cost of the rational food basket.
