Bashkiria's agricultural producers plan to collect 3.5 million tons of grain in 2014
In Bashkortostan in 2014 it is planned to collect 3.5 million tons of grain, 1.5 million tons of sugar beets, as well as 1.7 million tons of potatoes and other vegetables, the Minister of Agriculture of the republic Nikolay Kovalenko reports.
“It is early but prolonged spring this year”, the minister said. “The first farm machinery entered the fields on April 18, but due to bad weather works had to be suspended and they were resumed only on April 29.”
Winter crops were sown on the area of 550 thousand hectares which survived frosts successfully. About 97 percent of crops, according to experts, are in good condition, reseeding is necessary only on 40-45 thousand hectares.
Currently, 13 republican regions are sowing; two percent of the plan is sown. Also mulching goes on, 300 thousand hectares, or 30 percent of the plan are processed.
Total area under crops this year will be 3.24 million ha. 1 490 000 ha are allocated for grain legumes, 50 000 ha - for sugar beet. Corn crops areas will be increased.
Already 820 million rubles are transferred to agricultural producers for spring field work. Total about 1.7 billion rubles are directed to support agricultural producers.
