LLC Bashneft-Dobycha is fined for soil contamination due to pipeline break

LLC Bashneft-Dobycha is fined 70,000 rubles for "land damage as a result of handling rules violation for substances hazardous to human health and environment" according to Part 2 of Art. 8 of the Administrative Code RF, the Prosecutor's Office of Bashkortostan Republic informs.

Bashkir Environmental Interdistrict Prosecutor's Office checked the compliance to the environmental legislation of gas and oil extracting departments "Ishimbayneft" and "Tuymazyneft" of LLC Bashneft-Dobycha. It was found that in November and December 2013 in the territory of Aurgazinsky and Blagovarsky regions breaks of pipelines occurred. As a result, about one and a half thousand square meters of land were contaminated with chlorides and petroleum products.

The Interdistrict Prosecutor demanded in court to reclaim the soil by LLC Bashneft-Dobycha in accordance with the restoration project. At the moment, one claim is sustained. Proceedings of the second claim are controlled by the Prosecutor's Office.

LLC Bashneft-Dobycha is the main extraction enterprise of JSOC Bashneft. It was created in October 2009 during the construction of a vertically integrated oil company structure as wholly owned subsidiary of Bashneft.
