Bashkiria can become a testing site for developing technologies for nonconventional hydrocarbons extraction
In Bashkortostan a testing site can be arranged to simulate commercial production of nonconventional technologies and hard-to-recover hydrocarbon reserves. The development of nonconventional hydrocarbons was discussed at a meeting in the Ministry of Industry and Innovation Policy RB on Monday. It was attended by executives of Rosgeologiya, the Ministry of Industry RB, representatives of oil companies and research institutes.
Using the experience of the USA and Canada it is supposed to encourage business to develop new direction with tax incentives and various benefits.
A coordination centre for study and development of nonconventional types and sources of hydrocarbons is created under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation on the basis of Rosgeologiya.
According to the Deputy General Director of JSC "Rosgeologiya" Roman Samsonov, in Russia it is advisable to arrange four or five testing fields with different natural conditions, terrain, geological features. Western Siberia is a priority area for development of nonconventional resources - in terms of economy, availability of technologies and capabilities. In Bashkortostan, according to Roman Samsonov, Domanic deposits of Volga-Ural oil and gas province will be considered.
The head of Rosgeologiya noted that Bashkortostan was interesting as a potential testing site "due to the existing oil and gas infrastructure, the developed industrial complex and leading positions in instrument engineering and drilling equipment".
