Women constituted 62.7 percent of the unemployed in Bashkortostan

In Bashkortostan, women constituted 62.7 percent of the unemployed at the end of 2013, according to the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection.

20.1 percent in the structure of the unemployed in the republic were young people under 29 years, 7.4 percent were disabled people. In 2012 these figures were equal to 22.4 and 7.5 percent, respectively.

The average duration of unemployment as of December 31 2013 was 5.1 months (as of December 31 2012 - 4.7 months). The greatest value of this indicator was noted last year in Askinsky and Blagovarsky regions.

However, compared with 2012, the proportion of short-term unemployment decreased in the region (up to 4 months). At the same time, experts note increase of stagnant unemployment (from 4 months to 1 year) and hard-core unemployment (over one year).

A quarter of the unemployed were people with higher education. In 2012 the figure was 23.8 percent.

23.8 percent of the unemployed in Bashkortostan have secondary vocational education, 27 percent - basic vocational education. 17.2 percent have secondary (complete) general education, 6.2 percent - compulsory general education, 0.7 percent do not have compulsory general education.

As previously reported, the registered unemployment rate over the republic by the end of 2013 amounted to 1.17 percent of the economically active population. In Ufa, the figure was 1.13 percent, in the cities of Bashkortostan - 1.07 percent, in areas - 1.33 percent.

In the Russian Federation, the registered unemployment rate was 1.2 percent, in the Volga Federal District - 0.9 percent.
