Counterfeiters prefer five thousandth banknotes – the Central Bank Statistics

Five thousand banknote was the leader of "ruble" preferences of counterfeiters in the fourth quarter 2013. 13 018 fakes were withdrawn from the circulation in the territory of Russia with such denomination – by 8 percent more than in the same period of 2012, according to the website of the Bank of Russia.

One thousand banknotes, by contrast, are forged more rarely: in the fourth quarter of 2013 it was found 4454 of such fakes (by 60 percent less).

Also banknotes of 500 rubles denomination are forged (1465 items were revealed), of 100 rubles denomination (143), 50 rubles (24) and 10 rubles (3). There are five-ruble fake coins - 42 pieces were revealed for three months.

In the Volga Federal District, the number of counterfeits withdrawn from the circulation has decreased by almost one third: 1482 pieces in October-December 2013 against 2,141 in the same period of 2012.
