Purchasing interventions in the Russian grain market will be resumed on January 21

Purchasing interventions in the Russian grain market interrupted by the New Year holidays will be resumed on January 21.
In 2013, the first purchases of grain to the intervention fund were launched in the country on October 15. According to a well-established tradition they are held twice a week - on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
By late December, the government purchased from farmers 544.1 thousand tons of grain for 3.21 billion rubles. Of these, 287.685 tons fall on the third grade wheat, 108.54 thousand tons – on the fourth grade wheat, 46.575 tons – on the feed wheat and 101.25 thousand tons – on the feed barley.
Under the program, since January 1, 2014 farmers can start buying grain back if the price situation in the market will allow reselling it more profitably. The Ministry of Agriculture RF expects that farmers will submit applications since the spring, agroobzor.ru reports.
