Food production will exceed the level of the last year in Bashkiria

Index of industrial food production in Bashkortostan following the results of 2013 will exceed 100 percent, according to the Ministry of Agriculture RB.

In 2013, there is an increase in production of meat and variety meats, half-finished meat, canned meat, sugar from sugar beets, ice cream and mineral water in the republic.

“It was very difficult year to the farmers. Nevertheless, in spite of extreme weather conditions, we managed to collect by 450 thousand tons of grain more than in 2012, amounting to 2.2 million tons,” Nikolay Kovalenko, the Minister of Agriculture of Bashkortostan said at the press conference. “In addition, a record crop of sugar beet was harvested in the republic - more than 1.8 million tons, as well as more than 237 thousand tons of sunflower seeds, more than one million tons of potatoes and 280 000 tons of other vegetables,” he added.

According to Bashkortostan Statistics Agency index of foodstuff production (this includes alcoholic beverages and tobacco) amounted to 99.4 percent in January-November 2013, 142.1 percent in November 2013.
