Hazardous substances are not found in the Bashkir honey – Bashkortostan Directorate of Rosselkhoznadzor

Bashkortostan Directorate of Rosselkhoznadzor (Federal Agency for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision) has not confirmed the presence of carcinogens decomposition products of nitrofurans - antibacterial substances in the Bashkir honey.

As ITAR-TASS reported the day before, Rosselhoznadzor raised claims to the safety of the Russian honey. This was announced by the head of department Sergey Dankvert at the press conference in Moscow.

Hazardous substances were found in 30 percent of domestic honey samples taken during the study by the branch institute. It concerned carcinogenic decomposition products of nitrofurans.

Meanwhile, the head of veterinary supervision at the state border RF and transport of Bashkortostan Directorate of Rosselkhoznadzor Ramil Shayhtdinov reports "During 12 years that I have been managing the department no violations related to the quality of the Bashkir honey have been fixed. Note that we check the honey not only for falsification and various quality indicators, but also for the presence of radiation. We don’t have concerns about Bashkir honey quality. Nitrofuran it is not used here.”

The representatives of Bashkir Research Centre on Beekeeping and Apitherapy also excluded the probability of having hazardous substances - nitrofuran metabolites in local apiculture products. Such cases were not revealed in the republic, they assured.
