Bashkortostan Customs: electronic declaration will be mandatory since January 1

Since January 1 2014, in accordance with the Federal Law "On Customs Regulation in the Russian Federation", electronic customs declaration is introduced in the country. Paper written declarations will be applied only in exceptional cases, the press service of Bashkortostan Customs reports.

The transition to electronic declaration will significantly accelerate and facilitate work of customs employees. Electronic declaration is processed by one customs authority and operations of actual control (customs checks, customs inspection or observation) are performed by the customs post at the place of physical location of goods. This reduces the flow of heavy vehicles in major cities, reduces the cost of foreign economic activity by optimizing logistics schemes of goods movement, reduces time for control operations in respect of goods transported, the Customs representatives explain.

Such technology of customs control is conducted by electronic declaration centres, including in the territory of the republic. The Bashkortostan Customs Office is the single one in the Volga Customs Administration .

First electronic declaration was issued at the Ufa Customs Post in July 2005. Currently, about 99 percent of declarations are issued in electronic form. At the Bashkortostan Customs Office 100 percent of declarations are submitted electronically. From the beginning of the year, 19669 declarations submitted by such technology were registered there.
