Central Bank of Russia approved a graphic symbol of ruble

The Board of Directors of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation adopted a symbol of the ruble, the Interfax Agency informs referring to Elvira Nabiullina, the Chairman of the Bank of Russia.

The crossed letter "P" is selected as a symbol.

In early November 2013 the Central Bank presented five options of the symbol to the public. The approved ruble symbol became the most popular according to the public discussion held by CBRF from November 5 to December 5. The survey polled nearly 280,000 people.

The approved version scored more than 61 percent of votes. Comments of participants of the discussion are available on the website of the Central Bank.
