In 2013, more than 1,838,000 tons of sugar beet against 933.656 tons in 2012 are collected in Bashkortostan.
Beet growers of Alsheevsky, Blagovarsky, Buzdyaksky and Karmaskalinsky region have already harvested from 200 thousand to 300 thousand tons of new crop.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture RB Nikolay Kovalenko, sugar beets have been harvested on the area of 52.7 thousand hectares in the republic, accounting for 99.5 percent of the plan.
Karmaskalinsky region is the only area where harvesting is still going. As the agricultural department marks, 6,150 hectares of land were allocated for sugar beet here in 2013, more than 5900 hectares of which are harvested now.
In general, in Bashkortostan, an average yield of sugar beet crops was 349 kg per hectare. Thus, the best sugar beet yield was in Blagovarsky, Buzdyaksky, Ermekeevsky and Chishminsky regions where more than 400 quintals of sweet root vegetables were harvested per hectare.
At present, more than 1,075,000 tons of sugar beet are transported to sugar mills, of which almost 613.396 tons are already processed.
Earlier, the Minister of Agriculture RB Nikolay Kovalenko said, it was planned that sugar mills in the region would run in a high work load until March, as each of them would have to process about 600,000 tons of sweet root vegetables.
According to the minister, 220-230 thousand tons of sugar will be enough for republican needs in this product.
