Russian FAS clarifies the reasons for rise in egg prices in all regions of the country

The Federal Antimonopoly Service (Russian FAS) began an analysis of prices in the market of eggs in all regions of the country. The Agency reported about this on its website on Thursday. This is connected with "numerous complaints received from citizens from various regions of Russia".
“The first findings from this analysis will be made on November 27 this year” the head of the chemical industry and agribusiness control department Anna Mirochinenko said.
According to the Russian Poultry Union, the price per egg increased by nine percent at farmers in January-September 2013, and in October - on average by ten percent.
In Bashkortostan, according to statistics, in October, an increase in egg prices was 31.2 percent. In September, ten-pack of eggs cost on average 36.82 rubles in the republic, and in October - 48.84 rubles. In November, prices continued to rise. On November 5, the average price reached 50.1 rubles.
Russia FAS marks that the price rise on eggs occurred amid rising production costs in the range of 20-25 percent. The cost was pushed up by feed price increase (by more than 30 percent) and an increase in tariffs for electricity and gas (10 percent). During the inspection it will turns out, whether this jump in prices is connected also with violation of anti-trust legislation.
