Sugar beet is harvested on 98 percent of areas under crops in Bashkortostan

In Bashkortostan 98 percent of sugar beet areas are cut for today, the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture RB informs.
About 1,829,000 tons of sugar beets with an average yield of 351 kg per hectare are collected in the region. More than 1,027,000 tons of sweet roots are delivered to Bashkir sugar mills from which more than 586.5 thousand tons are processed.
According to the ministry, farmers of Blagovarsky region took in the largest amount of sugar beet - more than 312.1 thousand tons. This region remains the leader among the 23 sugar beet growing areas. This year, on average 439 centners of sugar beet per hectare were harvested there.
It should be mentioned that in 2013 a record output yield of sugar beet over the past ten years was received in Bashkortostan. New technology of this crop cultivation, new hybrid varieties and rainfall during the second half of the summer greatly contributed to this achievement.
It is expected that the sugar mills in the region will run in a high work load until March, as each of them will have to process about 600,000 tons of sweet root vegetables.
220-230 thousand tons of sugar will be enough for republican needs in this product, the agricultural department assures.
