Rustem Khamitov has met with a delegation from China's Jiangxi Province

Areas of economic and humanitarian cooperation between Bashkortostan and Jiangxi Province of China were determined at a meeting of the President of Bashkortostan Republic Rustem Khamitov with a delegation from Jiangxi Province. The delegation headed by Jeng Venmin, the Deputy Chief of Development and Reform Commission of Jiangxi Province, arrived in Ufa yesterday.
According to Rustem Khamitov, regions can establish successful cooperation in machine building, metallurgy, in grain processing and tourism.
Rustem Khamitov also noted the need for the republic in development of modern highways network, housing construction and hotel services.
According to Jeng Venmin, Bashkortostan and the Province of Jiangxi have many common interests, so that "cooperation is of great potential". For his part, the head of the Chinese delegation outlined a number of the most interesting areas of the Jiangxi Province’s collaboration with Bashkortostan. It concerns high-tech manufacturing, non-ferrous metals, especially copper smelting, research in the field of industrial technology and ecology, tourism development and cooperation in the humanitarian sphere.
The parties anticipate a significant increase in trade with a launch of the international transport corridor Europe - Western China, which will go through the territory of Bashkortostan.
“The meeting with the President of the republic was very productive”, Mr. Jeng Venmin told reporters after the talks. “We have agreed that next year we will sign a protocol on strategic cooperation between our regions. An official visit of the two regions heads is scheduled too.”
Jiangxi Province is located on the southern bank of middle and lower flows of the Yangtze River. Its area is 166.9 thousand square kilometers and population totals 44 million people. The province has 183 kinds of minerals. The China's largest copper smelting centre is located in north-east and the southern part of the Province is known as the "world capital of wolfram" and the centre of rare earth resources.
Gross output of Jiangxi amounted to 212.5 billion U.S. dollars in 2012; the budget income was 33.5 billion dollars. Total investment in fixed assets was 187 billion dollars.
