It is planned to construct a purified terepthalic acid and polyethylene terephthalate plant in Ufa

An integrated purified terepthalic acid (PTA) - polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plant can be constructed in Ufa. It is created a joint venture for the project realisation — a corresponding agreement was signed by JSC United Petrochemical Company and Mexican Grupo Petrotemex, S.A. de C.V., a subsidiary of Alpek, S.A.B. de C.V, it is informed on the website of Sistema JSFC.

Under the agreement, Alpek and UPC will make a business plan to be approved by the parties. Alpek and UPC will each invest US$10 million at the first stage.

The parties are negotiating the supply of the required material - Paraxylene - with JSOC Bashneft.

According to Sistema JSFC the PTA and PET producing plant will work using IntegRex technology with a maximum installed capacity to 600 thousand tons of terepthalic acid and 600 thousand tons of polyethylene terephthalate a year intended to supply in the Russian market.

JSC United Petrochemical Company is a vertically-integrated petrochemical group, owned by Sistema JSFC. OJSC "Ufaorgsynthez", LLC «Tuimazinsky Gas-Refinery Plant», LLC «Shkapovsky Gas-Refinery Plant» and LLC "Bisphenol" belong to it.

Grupo Petrotemex, S.A. de C.V. is owned by S.A.B. de C.V. Alpek, the largest petrochemical company in Mexico and the second-large in Latin America. Alpek is the leading world manufacturer of PTA and PET. It runs 19 enterprises in Mexico, the USA and Argentina.
