Rustem Khamitov has discussed spheres of mutual business interests with US Consul General

The President of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov has met with Otto Hans Van Maerssen, the US Consul General in Yekaterinburg.

Mr. Van Maerssen has arrived in Ufa together with representatives of the American business community for discussing a wide spectrum of questions, including development of several business directions. A number of arrangements has been reached by republican delegation headed by Rustem Khamitov during a visit to the USA in July this year.

“I am impressed by results of your visit to the USA during which you managed to attract a number of American companies to the republic,” Mr. Van Maerssen said. “Undoubtedly, willingness of such quantity of American companies to come to the republic and to start cooperation testifies to investment appeal and political stability, guaranteeing successful development of business and long-term investments.”

President RB marked that for today the republic «has a positive working experience with the enterprises of the United States», and defined areas of the greatest mutual interest.

“Road complex companies are of great interest for us,” the head of the republic said. In particular, according to Rustem Khamitov, the decision on starting a manufacture of "Terrakrit" stabilizer for road construction is already accepted in Bashkortostan. There is a mutual interest in the field of housing construction.

During the July visit to Texas representatives of the republic have visited Green World Restoration, LLC offering modern housing solutions. According to Rustem Khamitov, «technologies for building houses quickly, cheaply and with good quality» are interesting to the republic, but the product should be adapted for the regional climate conditions where a range of temperatures within a year reaches 100 degrees.

“We are interested in global processing of large-scale waste of mining-ore industry. Tomorrow representatives of "King Coal" company arrive in the republic — we will discuss a question of waste processing,” the President RB informed.

The foreign trade turnover between Bashkortostan and the USA made 197,7 million dollars in 2012, including 109,1 million dollars of export. The USA occupy the 15th place with relative share of 1,4 percent in overall volume of foreign trade of the republic. Mineral oil (78,8 percent of export), synthetic rubber (7,2), chemical products (6,7) are delivered from Bashkortostan to the USA. Medical products (38,7 percent of the imported goods), equipment and electric devices (29,6), chemical products (20,9), metals and products from them (2,9) are imported.

The volume of investments of American companies to Bashkortostan following the results of 2012 has made 3,8 million dollars. In the first half of the year 2013 4,1 million dollars were attracted. The sum of US investments accumulated in the regional economy as of July 1 amounted to 9,2 million dollars.
