Energy losses will be reduced in one and a half-two times in Ufa with "smart grids" introduction

The cooperation agreement in working out of the program of complex upgrading of Ufa electric power grid was concluded by JSC «Bashkir Power Grid Company» (BESK) and LLC "Siemens". The same day a meeting on introduction in Ufa of «smart grids» energy saving technologies took place in the republican Government.

BESK General Director Andrey Makarov considers that electric power losses in the city can be reduced in one and a half-two times due to topology improvement of Ufa electric grid within the limits of the project.

According to Jorge Liebscher, the Director of «Smart Grids» department of the sector «City Infrastructure» at LLC "Siemens", experience of the Indian city of Mumbai and several European cities will be used in Ufa. In the beginning the company will analyse the existing system of power supply and will develop a detailed concept of the project. Then it will be offered three variants of power grid development.

The preliminary feasibility report on the project is planned to be prepared in the first quarter 2014.

According to the Government RB, Bashkortostan will be the first in Russia to introduce the new system. In due course experience of Ufa will be expanded over all power supply system of the republic.

The Deputy Prime-Minister of the Government RB Dmitry Sharonov marked that the management system of the smart-grid will allow reducing number of grids while retaining energy supply parametres.
