Dmitry Medvedev examined production facilities at JSC “Polief”

On Wednesday, July 3, the Prime Minister of the Government of Russia Dmitry Medvedev visited JSC “Polief”, part of "Sibur-PeTf" company in Blagoveshchensk where he examined the production monitoring system and samples of production made by the enterprise. For today more than one thousand people work at Blagoveshchensk factory.
Polief is a single manufacturer of terephthalic acid (TPA) and one of three manufacturers of polyethyleneterephthalate (PET) in Russia.
“TPA manufacture was started in 2005, and the second line was opened in 2006. The design capacity is 230 thousand tons a year. At present capacity of the polyester complex at TPA manufacture makes 250 thousand tons a year. Terephthalic acid in the form of raw materials is sent to the factory in Tver. PET manufacture was started in 2008; its design capacity makes 120 thousand tons a year. At present it reached 140 thousand tons a year. The reconstruction project on PET output increasing capacity up to 210 tons is near completion. Increasing capacity, we receive effective production, besides, the given project is focused on import substitution,” the head of production facilities, the chief engineer of “Polief” Maxim Shaibakov said.
Dmitry Medvedev asked about the share of import and the supplier of that production.
“It makes 40 percent,” answered the General Director of "Sibur" company Dmitry Konov. “Basically it is China and Korea. With start-up of the given manufacture import of these raw materials will practically stop.”
One more advantage is that within the limits of the project implementation more effective technologies will be involved allowing to improve essentially ecological situation.
It is planned to finish reconstruction in the end of 2013 beginning of 2014.
Also Dmitry Medvedev examined the monitoring system of technological processes at Polief.
