Bashneft opened an innovative Drilling Support Centre in Ufa

JSOC Bashneft opened a Drilling Support Centre (DSC) in Ufa. The main task of DSC is to support drilling in real time mode irrespectively of the geographical location of the object. Specialists obtain necessary information on the formation structure and make decisions concerning well design and placement. As a result opening-up of deposits is reached with a smaller number of wells and horizontal drilling.
Bashneft’s investment in the creation of the DSC totalled 165 million roubles. DSC was designed and constructed by Schlumberger Company.
“This centre enables us to correct potential errors which can arise at drilling in real time mode,” the "Bashneft" president Alexander Korsik told the journalists. “Wells are very expensive, tens of millions dollars, and errors are of crucial value. Correct horizontal drilling allows increasing the recovery factor that is very important, especially for the exhausted reserves of Bashkiria. By means of this instrument we will support extraction, at least, throughout the next years.”
According to the company information, in 2012 the average initial production rate of Bashneft’s newly drilled wells totalled 60.5 tons per day compared to 19.2 tons per day in 2011 and 15 tons per day in 2010.
Mikhail Stavskiy, Bashneft’s First Vice President for Upstream and Geology said that this was the second similar centre in Russia. The first one belongs to Rosneft and is located in Moscow.
Now the DSC monitors the situation at six wells, including at Trebs and Titov’s Deposit in Nenets Autonomous District where the drilling was begun on May 20.
