Majority of checked up employers infringe labour rights of women in Bashkiria

In 2012 the state labour inspectors of the State Labour Inspection of Bashkortostan spent 266 target checks of women labour rights observance by employers of the republic. As a result 153 of checked up employers (58 percent) had certain infringements of general and special labour regulations of this category of workers, Irina Svintitskaya, the department head of the State Labour Inspection RB informs.
According to Irina Svintitskaya, in 2012 state labour inspectors investigated 56 cases of occupational injuries where women suffered, including three fatal cases, 26 — with heavy injuries.
“On the threshold of the International Women's Day on March 8, unfortunately, it should be stated that many employers of our republic, congratulating on the holiday, forget that the established regulations of labour safety, guarantees and indemnifications to women should be observed daily,” Andrey Tsibizov, the head of the State Labour Inspection RB marks.
Meanwhile among 308 employees who addressed to inspection for assistance or consultation in connection with a dismissal without valid reason or compulsion to dismissal more than 60 percent were women.
Thus, last year 146 complaints of women on delay by employers of benefits payment in connection with maternity leave were received by labour inspection. On cases initiated by state labour inspectors and public prosecutors 36 employers were held administratively liable for delay of benefits.
