Delay with soda deposits development in Bashkiria can be favourable to Turkish manufacturers — the report by the «Petersburg Policy» fund

Experts of the «Petersburg Policy» fund specify a possible interrelation between the end of working out of existing raw-material base for soda manufacture in the territory of Bashkortostan and starting the new facilities in Turkey. Such information is contained in the analytical review «Ecological Conflicts in the Russian Regions», published by the fund today. One month ago the Minister of Power and Natural Resources of Turkey declared the beginning of the world's largest caustic ash manufacture construction. Its commissioning should take place in 2017 — simultaneously with final exhaustion of the raw-material base of Sterlitamak "Soda" plant, the largest manufacturer in the territory of the CIS.
Authors of the report consider as «a successful step of ecologists» a slogan promotion «in defense of Shikhans» and positioning of these natural objects as «one of wonders of the world». Analysts of the «Petersburg Policy» underline that this word is not a proper name and means «separate hills allocated over the relief».
There is also a version in the report that «the final beneficiary in struggle for Shikhans» is one of business structures which is interested in decrease in the selling value of "Soda".
In the report the forecast on two scenarios of events succession is contained which assumes as progressive extinction of the conflict in connection with exhaustion of its corporate history, and its "revival" in connection with elections to the State Assembly RB coming in September, 2013. The report is published in its full version on the official website of the fund on February 19, 2013.
