GLONASS system implementation is started on motor transport of Bashkiria

Fr om this year GLONASS system implementation on motor transport is started in the republic, serving to raise safety of passengers and cargoes transportation. Also this year the new law comes into force — on compulsory civil liability insurance of a carrier for infliction of harm to life, health and property of passengers. Thus the maximum insurance payment for infliction of harm to health of a passenger constitutes two million rbl.

The head of Bashkir Directorate of the State Road-Transport Supervision of the Federal Agency for Transport Supervision Sergey Merezhko told about it at the press conference in Ufa.

The head of the Directorate informed that since April 1, those carriers which would not establish the GLONASS system, penal sanctions would be applied to. Meanwhile, according to Sergey Merezhko, owners of motor transport only start the process of devices installation; the following stage is to connect them to the uniform system. Besides, tachographs should be installed on the licensed motor transport, keeping account of working and rest hours of drivers. All this is aimed at increase of transportations safety, including transportation of hazardous cargoes, which is controlled now by the Directorate of the State Road-Transport Supervision.

In total in 2012, according to Sergey Merezhko, there were 14 road accidents with participation of the licensed transport wh ere two people died. One such case occurred this year already. For the last year 1670 entities were checked up, 768 off-schedule checks were spent. The sum of penalties made 1,64 million rbl.

At the press conference it was declared also that the GLONASS system implementation on motor transport would not affect the fare for passengers.
