Official visit of Rustem Khamitov to Seoul has come to the end

Official two-day visit of the President of Bashkortostan to the Republic of Korea has come to the end, the press-service of the head of republic informs.
As the head of official delegation Rustem Khamitov held meetings with members of the Government of Korea, visited a number of higher educational institutions and scientific centres.
At Myongji University the President of Bashkortostan examined an electronic library.
During the meeting with the Minister of Education, Science and Technologies Lee Ju-ho it was discussed a question of electronic education system development.
Rustem Khamitov suggested signing an agreement with the Korean experts concerning development of e-learning system and also invited them to Bashkortostan to work under the task of electronic university creation in the republic.
Conversation on interaction in matters of electronic education and electronic government technologies introduction was continued at the meeting with Sukwoo HONG, the Minister of Knowledge Economy of the Republic of Korea. According to the Minister, the trade volume between Russia and Korea constantly increases.
“Bashkortostan occupies one of the leading positions on level of economic development in Russia, therefore interaction with the republic will promote growth of trade with your country,” the Minister said. “We assume that mutual goods turnover between our countries can reach 20 billion US dollars a year.”
“Seven large companies created with participation of the Korean capital (in the sphere of manufacture of lamps, milk processing) work in Bashkortostan”, Rustem Khamitov informed. “We are ready to offer cooperation in mechanical engineering, chemistry, radio electronics and IT technologies. We would like to work consistently with Korean business through your ministry.”
The President of Bashkortostan suggested directing a group of Korean businessmen to our republic, which could familiarise with economy and plan general points of further interaction. Besides, during the meeting an arrangement was reached on carrying out of Bashkortostan presentation in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Korea.
Also the delegation of Bashkortostan headed by the President Rustem Khamitov visited Hanyang Cyber-University and the Korea Education and Research Information Service (KERIS).
Hanyang Cyber-University is the first national online university which is now one of the leading distance learning universities in the world. Now more than 14 thousand students at 15 departments are studying there.
“Following the results of the meeting with Samsung Electronics management we agreed that in January a large team of the company experts will visit Ufa for work in such direction as an electronic government. It covers software and equipment, including computers. If Samsung Electronics considers that the potential of such market in the republic is great enough, we will discuss an enterprise construction here to manufacture such equipment for Russia and, probably, for the states of the Central Asia,” the President of Bashkortostan underlined.
The delegation of the republic during the business visit to the South Korea studied the concept of SMART-society. According to Rustem Khamitov, «it is the next, after information, step of civilisation development, which Koreans realise now at full speed».
“The South Korea achieved impressing success in Cyber Education. Almost 75 % of able-bodied population of the country annually raise qualification or receive new knowledge using the Internet.”
“Electronic learning has its specific technologies and peculiarities,” Rustem Khamitov marked. “Integration and experience exchange with the advanced countries is necessary,” the President of Bashkortostan underlined.
