Cost of air transportation within Volga Federal District can be cut by half

Since April 1, 2013 realisation of the Program of Small Aircraft Development within Volga Federal District regions will start. Michael Babich, the plenipotentiary of the president of RF in the Volga Federal District reported at the press conference.

It is planned that 50 percent of cost of flight per each passenger will be subsidised from the federal and regional budgets. It is allocated 320 million roubles on these purposes in the federal budget; the similar sum will be given from the regional budget. The competition on definition of a general carrier for the given program will be spent by the Federal Air Transport Agency.

Now regional transportations from the capital of Bashkortostan are carried out to Kazan, Samara and Yekaterinburg. Reduction of expenses on flights, certainly, will be a positive factor for increasing the passenger traffic in the country.

As to the Program of Small Aircraft Development, its demands serious, thoughtful approach to all issues concerning the possible operator of air transportation, type of aircrafts, subsidising procedure.
