The President of Bashkortostan named the main problems of trading branch

Trade in rural areas where 40 percent of the population of Bashkortostan lives, sharply differs fr om the trade in cities. It was declared by the President of Republic Rustem Khamitov at the Government RB session, wh ere the regional program of trade development for the next years was discussed on November 29.

“Quality lag of shopping services between cities and villages reached inadmissible amount,” Rustem Khamitov declared. “Actually consumers' co-operatives die out, modern shopping infrastructure is badly developed, there are no large players, and cooperation with local commodity producers is insufficient.”

Among key problems of the branch the President named also a poor state of wholesale trade on which level of development the region occupies one of the last places in the Ural-Volga region.

“From more than 300 thousand square metres of storage premises only 10 percent meet to modern standards,” Rustem Khamitov marked. “90 percent of premises are geared not even to yesterday but the day before yesterday.”

More than 200 thousand people are occupied in the trade sphere. The branch provides about the tenth part of tax revenues into the budget, forms up to 15 percent of total regional product. However domination of external players in the market and insufficient transparency of financial flows lead to essential tax losses.

Rustem Khamitov expressed his opinion that goods by republican manufacture were still insufficiently displayed at our shopboards, and at the same time he declared inadmissibility to create obstacles constraining activity of external players.

All these problems and ways of their overcoming are reflected in the long-term target-oriented program «Trade development in Bashkortostan Republic for 2013-2018» which becomes the main plan of the branch development for the forthcoming five years.
