Damage from arsenal explosion in Urman is estimated as 500 million roubles

Losses of the federal budget and the budget of Bashkortostan from liquidation of consequences from explosion at the 99th arsenal of the Ministry of Defence RF near Urman settlement are estimated as 500 million roubles. Such are the data by the Ministry of Finance RB which are given by Kommersant newspaper referring to Interfax Agency. These data were submitted by the head of the Ministry Ruzaliya Hismatullina in the answer to inquiry of the first vice-president of the State Duma Industry Committee Vladimir Gutenev. The deputy, having studied them, came to conclusion that losses to the state were brought by the policy of «saving on weapons disposal» which was spent by «the previous leadership of the Ministry of Defence».

It should be reminded that in May last year at the arsenal of the Ministry of Defence RF near Urman village of Iglinsky region in Bashkortostan the ammunition depot blew up. Splinters of shells scattered in the radius of three-four kilometres, as a result three streets burnt down in the village, more than one hundred families remained without their housing. The damage to inhabitants was estimated as more than 100 million roubles. The republican budget allocated 10,6 million roubles for indemnifications payments to the victims, about 37 million roubles more were directed for partial covering of expenses connected with liquidation of consequences of the emergency. The investigation named Sergey Denyaev as a possible originator of the explosion. He was accused under the article 217 of the Criminal Code RF «Infringement of safety rules at explosive objects». Criminal cases were initiated also against officials of the 99th arsenal — their posts and surnames were not specified, and their activity was qualified under articles 217 and 349 of the Criminal Code RF «Infringement of safety rules at explosive objects» and «Infringement of ammunition handling rules». It has not been informed about the end of the investigation of these cases so far.
